Current Exhibits
The Carbon County Museum houses three separate gallery spaces that cover different aspects of our local history. Visitors enjoy a variety of exhibits that reflect the history, people, and events of our region.
Main Gallery Space
The main gallery features exhibits on Indigenous Peoples of Carbon County, the Union Pacific, Wyoming's First Flag, and Carbon County Mining. Opening in August 2024 "How Did We Get Here: Trails Through Carbon County.
Carbon County Justice Exhibit
This exhibit features the stories of law enforcement from the early days of forts to modern justice. This exhibit also holds the grim remains of outlaw "Big Nose" George Parrot.
Military Room
In this gallery, we are showcasing objects from our vast military collection. We also show various objects and materials from the Carbon County Museum's medical collection.
The Garage
We showcase larger objects in the collection: a 1920's LaFrance fire truck, an authentic Sheep Wagon, and a 1920's Hudson Essex racecar. Also, take some time and look at the artistry of saddles made right here in Rawlins.
